The Importance of Sleep

There is much written on the importance of sleep and yet it is still underappreciated in terms of its benefit for our quality of life. Even for those of us that aren’t high level athletes, a minimum of 7-8 hours a night of sleep is suggested for recovery and to set you up best for success each day. It is also important to consider what type of sleep we are getting. How much of it is “Deep Sleep” aka REM cycle sleep (this is where the bulk of recovery happens)? How do we best set ourselves up before bed for high quality sleep? Sleep expert Matt Walker answers some of these questions (and more) in a TED talk titeld “Sleep is your Superpower”. A great listen for all!
