MENTAL HEALTH RUN & RECOVERY
Mental Health Run & Recovery 2026
The Mental Health Run & Recovery is a two day experience designed to bring together movement, recovery, and mental health awareness through a structured and intentional environment.
Led by HTFT Mental Health & Performance in partnership with One HomeTeam Foundation, the event brings together athletes, families, and members of the South Florida community with a shared objective. To create space for individuals to move, reset, and better understand the relationship between mental health and performance.
The experience is built around simplicity and purpose. Movement serves as the entry point, but the impact extends beyond the run itself into awareness, education, and long term behavioral change.
Held at Vista View Park, in Davie Florida, and the setting is intentional. Open green space, elevation, and natural elements create an environment that supports both physical movement and mental clarity.Participants will have the option to engage in either a guided run or a structured walk, allowing for accessibility across all levels. The experience is supported by former Olympian Sharmaine Williams, who will lead elements of the guided movement portion, bringing both expertise and perspective at the highest level of sport.
The event also includes a recovery component, with access to modalities such as cold plunges and compression therapy, along with a guided mental performance discussion led by former athletes and members of HTFT and ONE HOMETEAM FOUNDATION.
This is not a race. It is a system designed to connect movement, environment, and mental health in a way that is both practical and repeatable.
" Running Is Medicine "
At the center of this experience is a foundational principle, Running Is Medicine.
Movement, particularly running and walking in natural environments, plays a measurable role in supporting mental health. Recent research has shown that structured running programs can produce outcomes comparable to traditional treatments in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, while also improving overall physical health markers such as weight regulation and blood pressure.
The environment also matters. Green space introduces an added layer of benefit. Exposure to open landscapes, sunlight, and fresh air has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and support cognitive clarity. When combined with consistent movement, the body begins to regulate and the mind becomes more stable, focused, and less reactive.
Running in these settings creates space—physically and mentally. It allows individuals to step away from constant stimulation, reset internally, and regain a sense of direction and control.
Within HTFT’s model, running is not positioned as a replacement for therapy or medical care. It is a tool, one that supports a broader system of mental health, performance, recovery, and long term development. The objective is not intensity. It is consistency.
The goal is to create a repeatable practice, one that extends beyond the event and integrates into daily life.
For Partners & Brands
The Mental Health Run & Recovery is built in collaboration with One HomeTeam Foundation, extending its reach into both youth and professional athletic communities.
With involvement from high level athletes, including Olympian Sharmaine Williams and Yohan Blake from Team Jamaica, the experience provides both credibility and real world perspective, bridging the gap between elite performance and everyday application. Partners are integrated directly into the experience through structured engagement, on site presence, and community connection. Not just a one day activation, but part of a broader system focused on education, awareness, and long term impact.
