RETREAT & RECOVER 2026

Retreat & Recover

Retreat & Recover is an immersive, once-a-year experience led by Isaac Farin and Trevor Barlow, intentionally designed to support restoration, clarity, and deeper self-understanding through guided structure, nature, and meaningful human connection.

This experience is rooted in the belief that insight, regulation, and personal alignment are often best accessed outside of everyday environments. Retreat & Recover integrates depth-oriented therapeutic insight, performance-informed guidance, and the power of green space to create an atmosphere that promotes calmness, presence, and reflection. It is not a traditional retreat, nor a replacement for ongoing therapy, but a carefully constructed environment that allows individuals to slow down, reset, and reconnect with themselves and those around them.

Nature and wellness practices play a central role in the experience. Participants engage in activities that support nervous system regulation and grounded awareness, including hiking, fishing, outdoor cooking, starting fires, journaling, open group discussions, and extended reflection periods in natural settings. Daily rhythms emphasize wellness and simplicity through optimal nutrition, shared cooked meals, meaningful living spaces, and participation in daily chores and responsibilities. These elements are intentionally woven together to reinforce structure, accountability, and presence.

Clinical & Program Leadership

Dr. Isaac Farin, Ph.D., LMFT, brings extensive clinical expertise to Retreat & Recover. He is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a doctoral degree in Family Therapy, an AAMFT Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor, and a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. Dr. Farin is widely recognized for his depth oriented, relational approach and for developing Longboard Therapy®, an experiential modality rooted in mindfulness, regulation, and systemic awareness. His leadership ensures the retreat remains grounded in sound psychological principles while honoring individual readiness, boundaries, and personal history.

Trevor Barlow, founder of HTFT Mental Health & Performance, leads program structure, integration, and applied performance elements. Through a relationship driven, solution focused lens, Trevor helps translate insight into actionable structure, supporting participants in connecting reflection with daily habits, responsibility, and long term alignment.

Together, Dr. Farin and Trevor create a balanced leadership dynamic that blends clinical depth with applied guidance, allowing participants to engage in meaningful work without pressure, overexposure, or rigidity.

Location, Structure & Intentional Design

Retreat locations are selected with care and intention. Past experiences have taken place in North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Georgia. Each year, a specific location is chosen based on the group dynamic and the mission of that year’s experience. The environment itself is considered a core component of the work, not simply a backdrop.

Participation is intentionally limited to a select number of individuals to ensure the experience remains personal, focused, and responsive to both individual needs and group dynamics. Scheduling, housing, travel coordination, and pricing information are provided directly by Trevor Barlow once participation is confirmed.

A Once-a-Year Experience

Retreat & Recover is offered once per year and brings together skilled professionals with a shared mission: to create space for clarity, transparency, and a deeper understanding of oneself. Through nature, structure, reflection, and connection, participants are given the opportunity to step away from noise and return grounded, regulated, and aligned with what comes next.
