Trevor Barlow

Founder, HTFT Mental Health & Performance

Trevor Barlow is the founder of HTFT Mental Health & Performance, a fully integrated program built on the principle that mental health is the foundation of sustainable performance and long-term personal growth. HTFT combines individual and family therapy, mental skills training, Mental Performance coaching, applied sport and performance psychology, youth and adult physical development programs, Performance Therapy, nutrition coaching, and recovery services including physical therapy and M.A.T. (Muscle Activation Techniques). Together, these disciplines are designed to help individuals develop mental clarity, resilience, and purposeful direction across all areas of life.

Trevor’s vision for HTFT was shaped by his background as a former professional athlete in football and rugby. Throughout his playing career, he trained within elite athletic organizations and worked closely with experts in sport psychology, physical therapy, performance coaching, and nutrition. However, the most influential figures in his development were Marriage and family therapists (MFT) and sport psychologists embedded within professional sports environments, professionals who helped athletes and teams navigate the emotional and relational dynamics that often determined performance under pressure.

Through these experiences, Trevor recognized that high performing teams and healthy families share striking similarities. Both function as emotional systems shaped by communication, roles, behavioral patterns, and structure. Therapeutic models such as Structural Family Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy evolved from abstract clinical frameworks into lived realities, observable on the field, in locker rooms, within leadership structures, and across team cultures. This understanding reshaped Trevor’s view of performance as something driven not only by physical preparation, but by relationships, mindset, and emotional systems.

Today, Trevor integrates these systemic principles into his work at HTFT, placing mental health at the center of performance and leadership development. He works with professional and collegiate athletes, retired athletes, executives, law enforcement professionals, veterans, families, and business owners, helping them build the internal structures necessary for sustained personal and professional growth. Influenced by the work of clinicians such as Dr. Isaac Farin, Trevor centers family systems and emotional resilience as core drivers of long-term effectiveness.

The Four Pillars of HTFT Mental Health & Performance

Mental Health
Developing clarity, resilience, and internal structure through systemic family therapy and psychological skill-building.

Performance
Integrating performance psychology, mindset training, and physical development to cultivate consistency, focus, and intentional growth.

Recovery
Combining physical therapy, massage therapy, M.A.T. (Muscle Activation Techniques), and mindfulness-based practices to restore balance and adaptability.

Nutrition
Providing individualized nutrition planning and coaching to support mental clarity, emotional regulation, physical performance, and recovery.

Through HTFT, Trevor helps individuals build the internal systems required for conscious leadership, sustainable performance, and a meaningful life. His mission is to redefine performance through the lens of mental health—where success is measured not only by external outcomes, but by inner strength, balance, and purpose.
