Trevor Barlow

Founder, HTFT Mental Health and Performance

Trevor Barlow is a family therapist and the founder of HTFT Mental Health and Performance, a program built on the principle that mental health is the foundation for sustainable performance and lasting personal growth. HTFT integrates family therapy, performance and sport psychology, performance training, nutrition, and physical therapy to help individuals build clarity, resilience, and purpose in every area of life.

Trevor’s vision for HTFT was shaped by his experience in elite sports. While competing in professional football and rugby, he trained with top-tier organizations and had access to the best in sport psychology, physical therapy, and coaching. But what stood out most were the family therapists embedded within those performance environments. These professionals helped athletes and teams navigate the emotional and relational dynamics that often determined whether they could succeed under pressure.

Through this experience, Trevor recognized that high-functioning teams and families share striking similarities. They operate as emotional systems shaped by communication, roles, behavioral patterns, and structural dynamics. Therapeutic models such as Structural Therapy, Bowenian Theory, and Solution-Focused Therapy weren’t just clinical concepts, they were alive and active on the field, in locker rooms, and in leadership structures. This insight transformed Trevor’s understanding of performance as something rooted not only in training, but in relationships, mindset, and emotional systems.

Today, Trevor blends this systems-based insight with a deep commitment to mental health. He works with a wide range of clients including college and pro athletes, executives, law enforcement professionals, veterans, families, and organizations, helping them strengthen their internal frameworks so they can thrive both personally and professionally. Inspired by the work of professionals like Dr. Isaac Farin, Trevor places family systems and emotional resilience at the center of his performance model.

HTFT Mental Health and Performance is built on four core pillars:

1. Mental Health – Developing clarity, resilience, and internal structure through systemic family therapy and psychological skill-building

2. Performance – Combining performance psychology, mindset development, sport performance / strength training, that drive consistency and intentional growth

3. Recovery – Encompassing physical therapy, massage therapy, M.A.T. (Muscle Activation Techniques) specialists, and mindfulness strategies to ensure long-term balance, healing, and adaptability

4. Nutrition – Offering tailored nutrition plans and coaching designed to support mental clarity, emotional regulation, physical output, and overall performance

Through HTFT, Trevor helps individuals build the inner systems needed to lead, perform, and live with intention. His mission is to redefine performance through the lens of mental health, where growth is measured not just by results, but by how well a person is built from within.
