Graduate Level Marriage and Family Therapist | Applied Sports and Performance Psychology | Owner, HTFT Mental Health and Performance
“ Specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, Applied Sport and Performance psychology, Neuro linguistic Programming “
Trevor Barlow is the owner of HTFT Mental Health and Performance and a graduate level Marriage and Family Therapist with a strong background in both family therapy and applied sports and performance psychology. He works with athletes, families, executives, and organizations at various levels, specializing in the intersection of mental health, performance, and systemic family dynamics.
In his work with families, Trevor integrates core models from the field of Marriage and Family Therapy, including Bowenian, Structural, and Systemic approaches. These models guide his ability to assess and address relationship dynamics, patterns of behavior, and generational influences that affect both personal and performance outcomes. For example, Bowenian theory helps Trevor guide individuals in understanding how family roles, differentiation, and emotional reactivity impact decision-making and emotional health. Through Structural therapy, he works with families to reorganize relationships and establish clear boundaries, while his use of Systemic principles allows for a holistic view of how communication and interaction patterns shape the family or team environment. These frameworks are not only applicable to families in the home but also extend into team settings, leadership structures, and performance-driven environments.
Trevor works also alongside professional athletes and team organizations, offering insight into the unique psychological demands of high-performance environments. His own experience in collegiate and professional sports enables him to connect deeply with clients, helping them understand how personal development and mental health are critical to sustaining excellence. He not only introduces athletes to the value of therapy but also helps them move beyond the stigma, showing how seeking support off the field enhances performance on the field.
He collaborates closely with a team of sport-specific and performance coaches through HTFT to deliver a cohesive and integrated model of care. In addition, Trevor partners with licensed therapists to provide collaborative support across family systems, sports performance, and individual development. For Trevor, mental health and mental performance are essential foundations for achieving lasting success..
